Market Facts is a quarterly report on the state of residential property markets in the capital cities and major regional centres throughout Australia. It provides timely and authoritative information on real estate activity in the market, including median house and flat/unit/townhouse prices, residential vacancy rates, returns on rented property and commentary on the major factors affecting the real estate industry across Australia.

Market Facts contains the following information:

• Quarterly median, lower quartile and upper quartile house prices
• Quarterly moving annual (trend) median house prices
• Quarterly median, lower quartile and upper quartile prices for flats/units/townhouses
• Quarterly moving annual (trend) median prices for flats/units/townhouses
• Quarterly median, lower quartile and upper quartile weekly rents for 2, 3 & 4 bedroom houses
• Quarterly median, lower quartile and upper quartile weekly rents for 1, 2 & 3 bedroom flats/units/townhouses
• Quarterly residential vacancy rates
• Charts of moving annual median prices for houses, flats, units, townhouses and vacancy rates
• Quarterly updates of the Residential Investment Property Index and Returns to Rented Properties.

The quarterly data contained in Market Facts are based on actual sales prices submitted to appropriate State and Territory Departments for the purposes of collection of stamp duty and recording changes of ownership. Likewise, the rental data is based on the weekly rents recorded on rental bond lodgement forms that are submitted to appropriate State and Territory rental bonds agencies.

Market Facts is released about 10 weeks after the close of each quarter to which the data refer, and is the only single publication that provides such a comprehensive coverage of recent movements in residential sales prices and rentals in each capital city. Furthermore, it is the only source of reliable vacancy rates in each capital city.

Subscribing to Market Facts costs $247.50 (incl. GST) per year. The subscription period is from 1 July to 30 June. A subscription entitles you to four issues of Market Facts and a copy of the annual publication Australian Property Market Indicators.
