Trade Practices Act
In consultation with the ACCC, the REIA has developed guidelines which address issues identified by the ACCC and provide a consistent nation-wide approach for real estate agents to comply with the Trade Practices Act.

General insurance
In consultation with ASIC, guidelines have been developed to assist real estate agents in complying with Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act 2001. The guidance notes examine agent involvement in the distribution of general insurance products.

GST price advertising
In consultation with the ACCC, the REIA has developed consistent nation-wide guidelines for real estate agents to comply with the current requirements of the Trade Practices Act when advertising real property for sale or lease in instances where GST may be payable to the vendor by the purchaser/lessee as part of the transaction.

Property valuations used in financial products
The REIA has developed consistent nation-wide guidelines for real estate agents to comply with the current requirements of the Corporations Act when providing property valuations which may be used in a document offering a financial product such as a prospectus or product disclosure statement. Sale of real property by tender
Consistent nation-wide REIA recommended guidelines have been developed for use by real estate agents for sale of real property by tender in instances where no other guidelines exist (i.e. some professional or government clients may require adherence to their own tender guidelines). For more information, contact your State/Territory Real Estate Institute. Real estate agents must ensure that they also comply with the various individual State and Territory Government Acts, statutory regulations, and codes of conduct.

Property inspections
The REIA has developed new, consistent, nationwide guidelines, based on legal advice, for use by real estate agents, clarifying the legal rights and obligations of agents and vendors participating in property inspections.
